Youlgreave - Bradford Dale - Alport - Lathkill Dale Circular, Sunday 11th October 2026

Another chance to get out with Mrs R, saw us heading for the 'White Peak' part of the lovely Peak District National Park.

Today we were completing a cracking walk which starts in Youlgreave, then carries on to Bradford Dale, Alport and the stunning Lathkill Dale before returning across the fields to Youlgreave.

It was a tad cold to start today, but warmed up comfortably by mid-morning.

A few nice birds were recorded on the walk today, the best of which were 145 Pink-footed Geese which flew east overhead, 2 calling male Tawny Owls, 2 Great-spotted Woodpecker, 1 Raven, 3 Grey Wagtail and 5 Little Grebe.

If carrying out this walk, please be aware it can be a bit slippery underfoot in Lathkill Dale due to the limestone rocks and scree in places and also be aware of the steep steps out of the dale as you head back to Youlgreave. These are very steep and are safer to go up rather than down in my opinion.

The following are my favourite photos from our lovely day out in this beautiful part of the world.
