A visit to Crowle Moor to survey the Odonata numbers today resulted in,as always, some notable sightings of other wildlife.
Very few birds were seen which were noteworthy apart from a single Hobby as i arrived.
Insect highlights were provided by some decent numbers of Red Admiral & Peacock Butterflies and i managed to find a Figwort Sawfly which was a new species for myself.
Highlight of the day went to one of my favourite animals, three stunning female Adders. They were observed in exactly the same area as i saw 6 females last year and just goes to show that this particular area is used by them year on year.
The only notable mammal seen was a lovely Fox,as i startled it along one of the many footpaths.
3rd August 2017
A change of scenery saw me nipping across the Humber and visiting North Cave wetlands.
Plenty of wildfowl was on show today, with the usual suspects recorded and a Black Swan thrown in for a bit of the exotic, but nothing of any note was observed really, just great to see so many birds present.
Some good numbers of Swifts were seen moving through infront of the many showers today and included in excess of 250 birds, pretty good i thought,as our local birds left 2 weeks ago.
Waders were pretty thin on the ground, with 4 Common Sandpiper and singles of both Dunlin and Little-ringed Plover providing the highlights amongst the commoner Lapwings and 7 Little Egret were seen sheltering out of the blustery south westerly.
