The Yorkshire Dales Part 2 - Around Keld.

This post is basically going to show what a beautiful little village Keld is and the outskirts of the village, this was our base for 5 days staying at the lovely Smithy.

If my readers don't know the area,Keld is a little village situated in Upper Swaledale and there has been a settlement here since the Viking era and the name Keld means Kelda, which means spring in old norse, the village once being Appletre Kelde, the spring near the apple trees.

Birds seen around the village during our stay included Dipper and a Dipper nest, several Grey Wagtail,Siskins,Spotted Flycatcher and breeding Curlew.

The following are a selection of photos of the beautiful scenery and some of the 5 or 6 waterfalls that pass through the limestone gorge around the edge of the village.
