Albert Returns!......Wednesday 30th June 2021.

After hearing and seeing the news that the adult Black-browed Albatross had returned to Bempton again this year,Tracey and myself just had to go and have another look.

After a fairly busy drive up to Bempton after work,we got the gear together and made our way to the New Rollup viewpoint to see a fairly large crowd of people watching the Albatross.

It was a proper relief he was still here,as the day before he had spent 7 hours sat on the sea distantly, but today was the complete opposite,as he sat on the cliffs resting.

I saw this bird last year on the 3rd July ,but it was a brief affair as he flew past us,but at incredibly close range before disappearing until this years sightings.

It has to be said, that this is certainly a species i thought i would never see,but i'm so pleased i have and obviously Tracey was excited to see this cracking seabird also.

We watched as he preened, stretched and on occasion displayed to the passing Gannets, with a curious head bobbing, what a stonker of a bird!.

As i write,he looks like he has left again for pastures new,on his brief visit to the Bempton Gannet colony and i really hope he will grace the area again with his presence,as I've not seen a bird anywhere cause so much interest and happy faces, what a great privilege to see him again.
