DST Leconfield,Saturday 26th June 2021.

A very kind offer to visit this military site with Tim and others to survey the birds and wildlife on site and particularly look for Turtle Doves, unfortunately drew a blank on the latter, but a varied selection of other wildlife, birds and wildflowers were recorded during the visit.

Personal highlights included a new moth for me,a Blackneck, who's food plant is Tufted Vetch and i also managed to find a Red-necked Footman which is most probably the first record for the site.

Also a fantastic sight, was the profusion of Orchids, with 600+ spikes of Marsh Orchids and other species including Common-spotted,Bee & Pyramidal.

Bird wise it was a fairly standard affair, with a nice Red Kite the highpoint for me.

Mammals also featured in the visit with several Roe Deer seen as we walked the site.

The following are a selection of my favourite photos taken during the day, highlighting just what a diverse site this is.
