Flamborough & Bempton Cliffs RSPB,Sunday 4th July 2021.

A planned day out today meeting friends Dan and Jeanette at Flamborough and later visiting Bempton, saw us all enjoying a superb day out.

We started the day by meeting up at the lighthouse headland and being greeted by a flyby from a lovely Barn Owl hunting in the gorse field. We then headed down towards the sea, watching and enjoying some superb views of at least a dozen Grey Seals as they swam about below the cliffs, being their usual inquisitive selves.

Some nice views of everyone's favourite Puffins were also enjoyed here as were good views of the breeding Razorbills,Guillemots and Kittiwakes.

On the walk back to the lighthouse some great views of several Six-spot Burnet Moths and numerous Northern-marsh Orchids were also enjoyed,we then went for some lovely lunch in the Headlands Restaurant.

After a fantastic lunch,we then headed over to Bempton and on arrival the car park was absolutely jam packed and i sort of wondered if Albert had appeared again.

The latter thought was quickly answered after a visiting twitcher said he was sat on the sea off Staple Newk viewpoint.

A hurried walk down there,so that Dan and Jeanette could see the AlbertWhat ensued was a frustrating 30 minute wait and then we saw him distantly circling around off the cliffs. He then flew straight towards us and over the next 45 minutes or so we were treated to mind blowing views as he flew around below us and sometimes at eye level at Staple Newk. These views of such a mega bird were really, really special and i just did not want to leave and just take in more views of this fantastic bird.

As i have probably already said,i have never seen a bird have such an affect on people, with so many grins and gasps at what they were watching and had seen.....Albert you are bird of the year and for me a life time!!!.
