New Forest, Day 2, Monday 5th August, Buckler's Hard To Beaulieu, Crockford Bridge & Burbush
A busy day today after the cloudy start first thing, we headed first of all to Buckler's Hard and completed a lovely walk we had done before walking up to Beaulieu and back.
It was pretty productive for birds and wildlife with highlights consisting of a Firecrest watched feeding it's 2 fledglings, 2 Roe Deer, a Fox and some Siskins watched at bird feeders feeding only a few feet away. This was a really great start to the day for us both.
After our great start to the day we headed to Crockford Bridge for Odonata, the sightings can be found here on my Dragonfly Sightings blog https://LincolnshireOdes.blogspot.com .
After the amazing Crockford it was onto Burbush near Burley, i had been given this site to look for Woodland and Heath Grasshoppers and it wasn't long before i had photographed both species. This was a cracking area, with Stonechat families, Bog-bush Cricket, Short-winged Coneheads and Silver-studded Blue Butterflies to name but a few. Frustratingly i also heard a couple of Wood Crickets, but just could not find any.
After our visit to Burbush, we had a look around the lovely Burley and had some tea in the local pub before travelling back to the cottage for a well earned rest.
