With the prospect of a good day's weather today,Trace and myself headed over to the Peak District to complete a circular walk between Youlgreave/Bradford Dale and Lathkill Dale and back to Youlgreave in a loop.
We have walked in Lathkill Dale on a couple of occasions before and it has always been a pleasure to visit with good numbers of birds and insects as well as the stunning Wild flowers on offer. But we had never completed this loop trail,so today was going to be the day.
The first section from Youlgreave takes in lovely Bradford Dale and the River Bradford and then carries on to the lovely little hamlet of Alport, before you head into Lathkill Dale.
There are many opportunities for photos of the cracking scenery and it really is a lovely section of the walk.
Lathkill Dale though, for me,is just stunning and it is such a privilege to be able to visit such a brilliant place for not just the hobby, but also the spectacular limestone and riverside scenery.
After reaching a foot bridge over the River Lathkill you head steadily up hill until you reach approx.100 steps until you come out on pasture fields and you basically head across these fields and then head back into Youlgreave.
On the walk today we also saw some nice birds and wildlife which included several singing male Redstart,a couple of male Garden Warbler,Red Kite and 3 cracking Clouded Magpie Moths.
Butterflies today included Speckled Wood,Green-veined White,Small Copper,Brown Argus and Dingy Skippers.
What an absolutely brilliant day,the following are some of my favourite photos from the visit.
